Hiring Research Data Analyst for multiple projects

RESEARCH DATA ANALYST (CONTRACT/PART-TIME)

Live & Learn, Inc. is seeking a contract Research Data Analyst to assist on analysis of multiple research datasets. Live & Learn works with public health system stakeholders—practitioners, advocates, governments, and researchers—to conduct applied research and policy projects that have a measurable impact on the mental health of service users, families, and communities. Live & Learn actively seeks high-influence opportunities to redefine the status quo in behavioral health services and policy, and advance social justice.

The Research Data Analyst will work remotely, as needed per project, and will be compensated at a negotiated rate per project/analysis. This role is ideal for a graduate student, and potentially includes authorship on academic publications and public reports. There are no benefits for this position.

DUTIES:

  • Work virtually with multidisciplinary social science researchers to conduct quantitative analyses of large datasets to determine participant and program characteristics and outcomes.

  • Review data for outliers and inconsistencies and perform data quality and assurance checks.

  • Create tables, figures, and charts for presentations and publications.

  • Assist on developing instruments and tools for data collection and management.

  • Become familiar with project-specific research content and study aims.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with scientists, activists, and policymakers.

  • Meet deadlines, communicate challenges, attend meetings to collectively advance project objectives.

REQUIRED:

  • BA/BS or master’s degree in public health, public policy, economics, social science or related field, with an emphasis on statistics and demonstrated experience completing quantitative research projects.

  • Strong analytic and critical thinking skills, including knowledge of quantitative and/or qualitative research methods.

  • Ability to write clear and concise technical memos and documents.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Experience writing basic code, Stata, SPSS, and/or R is preferred.

  • Experience using, building, or maintaining databases of quantitative information.

PREFERRED:

  • Experience with government contracting and interdisciplinary health services research.

  • History of a disability and/or personal experience with mental health services is an asset.

  • Commitment to honest, direct communication, problem solving, and public service.

  • Working knowledge of, or commitment to understanding, industry-specific software used by Live & Learn, such as Qualtrics, Endnote, Google Scholar, and Microsoft Office.
