Hiring Research Assistant
Live & Learn, Inc. is hiring a Research Assistant to support the company with policy-relevant public behavioral health research, evaluation, and technical assistance projects. We are passionate about collaboration and partnership among practitioners, advocates, and researchers to promote public health and welfare.
Live & Learn specializes in the inclusion of those who have personally struggled with their mental health in our research and consulting projects. Live & Learn generates revenue from research and development grants, technical assistance contracts, and consulting. See a list of current and past projects.
Research Assistants work remotely for anywhere between 20-40 hours per week and are compensated hourly. Live & Learn, Inc. offers benefits such as home office reimbursement, health premium reimbursement, health savings account contributions, paid time off, and a flexible schedule. We are open to the right person working part-time or full-time.
We are currently looking for someone who can also assist with light administrative and operations duties.
DUTIES:
Assist on data collection, analysis, and reporting of research and technical assistance projects.
Conduct literature searches and reviews current events in the health field.
Write reports and other materials for public dissemination.
Work virtually with multidisciplinary social science researchers to conduct research projects.
Create tables, figures, and charts for presentations and publications.
Become familiar with project-specific research content and study aims.
Communicate clearly and effectively with scientists, activists, and policymakers.
Participate in organizational development and compliance with support from executive staff.
Maintain websites using SquareSpace (content updates, affiliate directories, graphics, etc.).
Create newsletters and social media posts to share with Live & Learn constituents.
REQUIRED:
Residing and working in California.
First-hand or academic knowledge of peer support and alternative approaches to mental health.
Meet deadlines, communicate challenges, attend meetings to collectively advance project objectives.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
Working knowledge of, or commitment to learning, industry-specific software, such as Qualtrics (survey software), Endnote (reference software), Google Scholar (academic literature).
Ability to get along with others who have different perspectives and sources of knowledge.
Excellent writing skills.
Motivated by deadlines and opportunities to problem-solve.
PREFERRED:
Living in San Luis Obispo County, or elsewhere near the Central Coast of California.
History of a disability and/or personal experience with mental health services is an asset.
We are particularly interested in individuals who can substantively contribute to projects based on their knowledge of the experiences of diverse racial/ethnic, cultural, and gender identities.
BA/BS in public health, sociology, social work, or other social science discipline.
